Jasprit Bumrah, Indian cricketer’s grandfather was allegedly missing from Friday afternoon as reported by his family members.

As reported, Santok Singh Bumrah,84 had gone to Ahmedabad to meet his grandson but has been missing since Friday.

Santok Singh Bumrah’s body was fished out from the river this morning, Dharmendra Singh Solanki, Police Station Officer of the Sabarmati Riverfront (East) police station, told news agency PTI.

The cricketer’s family allegedly refused Santok Singh from meeting or talking to his grandson. A missing report was also filed in Vastrapur Police Station.

“We have filed a missing person’s report and have started looking for Santokh. We are trying to trace his cellphone and track him through the call details.” Meanwhile, when Mirror contacted Daljit Kaur, she said, “I do not wish to talk on this matter.” Jasprit is currently in Dharamsala for the ODI match against Sri Lanka.Vastrapur PI Manoharsinh Jadeja said.

It is suggested that Santok Bumrah, 84, had committed suicide.

“He expressed a wish to meet his grandson on his birthday on December 5. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to meet Jasprit. On December 8, Santokh called his son Balvinder Singh, who lives in Jharkhand, and told him that he was leaving to meet his deceased wife,” the complaint was quoted saying by the Ahmedabad Mirror.

Another source said that Santok turned up at his daughter’s residence at Sonal Apartments, Vastrapur on December 1, but was offered no apathy by the family.

“When we went to meet Jasprit’s mother Daljit Kaur at a city school where she is a teacher, she refused to allow my father any contact with Jasprit. She even refused to share her son’s phone number so that father could talk to him. My father was grief-stricken by this. He left home on Friday afternoon and never returned,” Rajinder said.

According to the police, Santokh Singh was a successful businessman in 80’s where he owned his own 3 Factories but now drives an autorickshaw in Kiccha village of Uttarakhand.

“However, after the death of Jasprit’s dad, the businesses allegedly went downhill and Santokh sold off the business and settled in Uttarakhand.” Sources added that Santokh had seen Jasprit on television and had wanted to meet his grandson who is a national cricketer. 

“We have sent the body to the civil hospital for postmortem and have registered a case of accidental death,” Police officer Solanki added.
