Announcement By Microsoft To Join The Linux Foundation



This is going to be a huge surprise for Every Microsoft lover that Microsoft announced to join the Linux Foundation As a high-paying Platinum member.

Linux Foundation executive director Jim Zemlin gave speech in regards to Linux foundation’s history with Microsoft – ” This may come as a surprise to you but they weren’t big fans. ”

Although the new Microsoft under Cheif Satya Nadella is surely singing a pretty different tune.

Nowadays Microsoft Is one of the biggest open source contributor around the world. Over the count of last few years, Microsoft  has essentially built Canonical’s Ubuntu distribution into Windows 10.

Microsoft also brought SQL Server to Linux, open-sourced core parts of its .NET platform and partnered with Red Hat, SUSE and Many other platforms as well.

Still ,This Aouncement will surely surprise many, regarding that Microsoft and the Linux community were often felt like they were competitors in the past.

Zemlin said that as much when I talked to him. “There will be some skepticism, but that will be from a smaller group,” he said. “There is an anti-establishment sentiment in open source. That’s natural.” He added that whenever a major corporation goes open source, that’s what happens. And he also noted that Microsoft has been “walking this talk for a very long time ” now.

Although the Other Linux Foundation Platinum members,  pay about $500,000 for privilege. Some of them includes Cisco, Fujitsu, HPE, Huawei, IBM, Intel, NEC, Oracle, Qualcomm and Samsung.

Google, Facebook and many other open source users are Gold sponsors at Microsoft.
